Chhandoshi
Music has been part of Chhandoshi’s life since childhood. Hailing from a family of musicians, Chhandoshi always had a strong bond with Indian music, especially Hindustani Classical Music. Her childhood was filled with attending live concerts, live theaters, and musical functions.
With an education in personnel management, Chhandoshi worked in the corporate world for a few years before embarking on the journey of a mother and homemaker when she was blessed with the two most precious gems of her life, her twin boys. Life became challenging when she came to the US with her husband and twin boys of almost one year old in 2002. No matter how stressful and exhausted she would be taking care of the twins, she would always listen to the Hindustani Classical music to find solace in life. Soon, listening to Bhimsen Ji, Jasraj Ji, and Kishori Amankar ji became a ritual for Chhandoshi. Her twin boys started growing up listening to the records of these stalwarts. Since they were born, the twins had keen ears for music and would clap to beats and hum along with the songs they would listen to. When the boys turned 6 years old, they entered the public school system and that was when Chhandoshi decided to pursue her career in the field of education. Chhandoshi has been serving the nation as a special education teacher for the last five years. Today, her twin boys are pursuing music in their lives seriously as a hindustani classical vocalist and a tabla player alongside their education. About seven years ago one of her sons started learning from Vidushi Kalaramnath ji, one of the world’s best musicians. Chhandoshi’s love for music rekindled her desire to do something for the young musicians of the world. She got the opportunity to get involved in Kalashree Foundation and started contributing to the organization by arranging musical concerts, workshops and fundraising events. It has been several years since Chhandoshi has dedicated her time and efforts in these activities. She sees herself making a difference in the lives of children with special needs through her career and in the lives of Kalashree’s young talents through her passion for music.
